Sri Maha Mariamman Temple

Sri Maha Mariamman Temple
Located at the corner of Pan road and Silom Road, opposite of Narai Hotel, Sri Maha Mariamman Temple shows the religious tolerance in the Thai society. It houses the statues of Hindu Gods and Goddesses.

Around the temple, there are many flower stalls and plenty of visitors come to the temple compound to pay homage to gods and take a closer look at ceremonies.

At any time of day, Silom has its own unique identity. Its charming atmosphere awaits curious visitors to come knock on its door.

About 150 years ago, the area from Sathorn to Si Phraya was vast suburbia near the capital city where dignitaries and foreigners liked to buld their "retreats". It was swamped by consulates, missionaries, and merchants of all nationalities, including people under their employ and jurisdiction. There were also Lao, Chinese, Mon, Indian, and Yawa settlements. These people lived there to make their living and plant their roots deep into this country.
