Don Muang International Airport
The Don Muang International Airport is one of the busiest in Asia handling over 80 international airlines. Located on the Vibhavadi Rangsit road it was formely opened for the Royal Thai Airforce Base in the mid of 1914.
The airport is divided into 2 sections the International and Domestic terminal. The International sections has 2 terminals listing different airlines in each terminal. For boarding an international flight all the travellers need to check-in atleast 2 hours before of the departure time. The Domestic terminal is also equally well appointed with the exception of the duty-free shopping and the check-in time for all the domestic flights is 1 hour before departing. The airport also operates a free shuttle bus service betweem the International and Domestic Terminals.
Inside the international airport you will find various facilites like restaurants, drinks stalls, foreign currency exchange, postal services, bookstores, tourist information center and everything possible to make your arrival or departure a comfortable one. The biggest shopping attraction inside the airport is the Duty-free shopping stores with all the products being sold at a very reasonable price.
After the grand opening of Suvarnabhumi Airport in 2006, the Don Muang Airport is now the main base to board Domestic flights and is more used for the Royal Thai Airforce once again.
