The Baiyoke Sky Tower is situated on the Rajprarop road in the Ratchathewi district of Bangkok which is the country's tallest building. It contains the Baiyoke Sky Hotel which is the tallest hotel in South East Asia and the third Tallest Hotel in the world with 673 guest rooms. The building is 304m (1,013 ft) tall, or 328m (1,076 ft) tall if its mast is included. It has 85 floors, with a public observatory on the 77th floor and a 360-degree revolving roof deck on the 84th floor. Construction on the building ended in 1997, with the antenna being added two years later in 1999.
The Baiyoke Tower was actually opened in 1998. The building is 309 meters tall or about the height of 182 people standing one on top of the other. There are 1,740 windowpanes in the building. About the same number of windowpanes can be used for over 200 townhouses. The area inside this building is about 30 football fields. There are altogether 2,060 steps from the bottom to the top. It takes more than one hour to reach the top. The piling runs 60 meters deep underground or about the height of a 22 storey building.
